Postgraduate Places at the Transitions and Risk: New Directions in Social Policy Conference The Centre for Public Policy is running an international social policy conference in February, 2005, titled Transitions and Risk: New Directions in Social Policy (more information can be found on the website: http://www.public-policy.unimelb.edu.au/conference2005/Index.html). In response to the numerous queries I have received in regards to 'student places' I thought I would email you and advise you of what will be happening in this regard. Due to the expense nature of running a conference of this calibre, at this stage, the Centre we will not be able to offer free places to students. Registration is $550 for the three days or $200 for day passes. We will however, be needing a large number of volunteers to help with the conference so at this stage, so we are attempting to establish a plan whereby, in return for undertaking some voluntary work you will be able to attend sessions at the conference free of charge. Volunteer tasks will include: * helping put together conference packs prior to the event (photocopying, name tags etc) * helping register delegates on the mornings of the events * escorting speakers to appropriate rooms etc * running errands at the venue during the conference If you are interested in undertaking some voluntary work for this conference in return for a day pass, please email me to register your interest. Please get in touch if you wish to discuss further. Thanks! Warmest regards, Lauren Rosewarne.
