University closure over Christmas and New Year The University will be closed from Saturday 25 December, and will reopen on Tuesday 4 January. The Department office will be closed on Friday 24 December, and other parts of the University may also be closed on this day. *********************************************** 3. Georgetown University 2005 Symposium for Graduate Students in International Affairs CALL FOR APPLICATIONS Women In International Security (WIIS) 2005 Summer Symposium for Graduate Students in International Affairs "International Security Challenges: Forging Global Responses" June 9 - 14, 2005 Georgetown University, Washington, DC Overview: The Women In International Security (WIIS) Summer Symposium is an intensive six-day program in Washington, DC encompassing seminars on security issues with leading policy experts, career development workshops, a crisis simulation, student research presentations, and unique networking opportunities. Past Symposium participants comprise an active network of women leaders around the world. The 2005 Symposium will focus on crucial security challenges, including proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; regional conflicts in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia; terrorism; human trafficking; and infectious diseases; and governmental and non-governmental strategies to effectively address these challenges. Eligibility: This program is open to graduate students currently enrolled in a master's or doctoral degree program in international relations, political science, history, security studies, public policy, conflict resolution, law, relevant sciences or other fields relating to international affairs. Both women and men may apply. Costs: WIIS covers the costs of accommodation, most meals, and the Symposium program itself. There is a registration fee of $125 for accepted students. Limited fellowships are available for travel.
