Global Political Theory Reading Group - next meeting Fri 23 July The GPTRG is a fortnightly gathering of political science postgrads with an interest in global politics, contemporary international relations and political economy, and political theory in general. Each meeting a reading is recommended to the group by a member, who briefly outlines the paper (possibly connecting to previous readings or their current research) before it is discussed in an informal and encouraging peer environment. Interdisciplinary Postgraduate workshop Tuesday 20 July with Bill Schwarz, Reader in School of English and Drama, Queen Mary College, University of London. Tuesday 20 July, 4 pm - 5.30 pm. The Australian Centre, 137 Barry St University of Melbourne Bill Schwarz has edited West Indian Intellectuals in Britain (Manchester, 2003), and his three-volume Memories of Empire will be published in 2006. He is an editor of History Workshop Journal, New Formations and Visual Culture in Britain. The focus of this workshop is approaches to interdisciplinary research and writing. Postgraduates are encouraged to come along and talk about the interdisciplinary theoretical and methodological influences on their work, its potential and problems. Free physio for sore knees available Volunteers are required for physiotherapy research into the effect of exercise therapy to prevent recurrent knee pain.
