Applying for admission and scholarshipsAustralian Students You can apply for, and commence, a research degree at any time of year (but be mindful of scholarship deadlines). Masters programs are administered by the Faculty of Arts; PhDs are administered by the School of Graduate Studies. Please consult their respective websites for information about the degree and how to apply. International Students International students apply online for all postgraduate courses. Applications can be submitted at any time of year (but be mindful of scholarship deadlines). Applications are made through the University's International Office, which also provides general information about study at the University. Prospective research students should consult the Department's list of academic staff and their research interests to see if supervision is available for their intended project. Australian students please consult the Melbourne Scholarships Office for information about scholarships. The main source of funding for research students is the Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) and Melbourne Research Scholarships (MRS) scheme. Applications close 31 October each year. International students can nominate to be considered for all available scholarships directly on their course admission application forms. Applications should be submitted by 15 September each year so they can be considered for as many scholarships as possible. International Scholarships has more details about available funding.
