Introduction
The Master of Social Policy is jointly produced by staff from the Centre for Public Policy and the Sociology Program. The Coordinator of the MSP is also director of research at the Brotherhood of St Laurence, Australia’s leading NGO in applied social policy research.
Social policy is a meeting place of disciplines. It has a consistent core of traditional policy areas (ie social security, employment, education, health, housing and social care) and newer areas such information technology and the environment.
The Master of Social Policy at Melbourne blends several strengths:
- a sociological approach to researching issues and policies
- a strength in politics and governance matters affecting social policy
- close understanding of current political agendas and attunement to Third Sector issues
- an international and comparative outlook
