Master of International Politics

The Master of International Politics (MIP) program is a professional program open to students with degrees in any subject (not just political science or its equivalents). It also makes allowance for professional work already done in the discipline. It can be undertaken by coursework alone, or by coursework and a minor thesis, and fulltime or part-time. The Master of International Politics program can be done as a stand alone degree. Or it can be done as a way to access further postgraduate study at any university in the world (e.g. to do a PhD degree)

The two year MIP program (coursework only, or coursework and minor thesis), is available to those with:

  • an undergraduate degree in any subject, with a 70% grade average
  • a Graduate Diploma in Arts (Political Science) from UM, with a 70% grade average

The year-and-a-half MIP program (coursework only, or coursework and minor thesis), is available to those with:

  • an undergraduate degree in any subject, with a 70% grade average, plus at least one year of relevant work experience

  • an undergraduate degree in any subject, with a 70% grade average, plus five years of relevant work experience
  • a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts (Political Science) from UM, with a 70% grade average

The Master of Arts in International Politics (MA in IP)(coursework and major thesis), is available to those with:

  • a BA (Hons) in the appropriate area of study or a closely related subject with a 70% grade average (to UM standard), and a research component or the equivalent with a 75% grade average (to UM standard).
